Canada to Welcome nearly 1,000,000 New Immigrants by 2020
Canada’s Express Entry immigration system is the country’s flagship system for those who want to move to Canada.
Canada, one of the world’s leading nations in international immigration, has announced plans to bring in more skilled workers and immigrants into their country like never before. Recently tabled in front of Canada’s House of Commons, a multi-level, multi-year immigration program has been called the most ambitious venture in Canada immigration history and poses to give great benefits not just to the Canadian economy, but also to the international community of Canada immigration hopefuls as a whole.
This newly devised plan is a departure from the previous system where immigration targets were decided on a year-by-year basis and thus afforded Canadian businesses and employers limited score for planning their economic futures. With this new plan, the entrepreneurs and enterprises of Canada will be able to make long-term goals and international recruitment plans which will successfully substantiate them.

According to the plan, 310,000 new permanent residents will settle in Canada in 2018, followed by 330,000 newcomers in 2019, with a further 340,000 to settle in 2020. The majority of these immigrations to Canada will take place through the Express Entry program. In 2017 alone, the IRCC has consistently lowered the minimum cut-off grade, thus allowing more and more ITAs to be issued to prospective immigrants.
At present, the Express Entry program lists the cut-off grade at 413 CRS points for both the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). The score was even lower for the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) at 241 points. It goes without saying that with this rise in number of overall vacancies in Canada and the IRCC making the Express Entry program the primary driver for economic immigrations to Canada, there is no better time to apply for Canada immigration than right now.
Aside from the federal Express Entry program, over 180,000 economic immigrations will take place through the PNPs. So, for those wanting to settle in one of Canada’s many provinces can really benefit from this decision. Also, many provinces in Canada are set to enhance their Express Entry immigration stream. These can vary from general Express Entry nominations to more specific Occupation in-demand orientations. A great surge for has been noticed in recent months for qualified IT workers in many provinces like Saskatchewan, Ontario etc. and with India’s population heavily focussed on IT, this will provide Canada immigration possibilities for many hundreds of professionals.
